Merrick Dads Cup Rules
- Each two-man group competes as a team for the LOWEST TEAM SCORE for each of the 18 holes. You will ultimately score points for your team, either RED or BLUE.
- METHOD OF PLAY
- Play begins with each member of the two-man group teeing off from WHITE TEES.
- Decide which tee shot is the most desirable. The other team member picks up their ball and proceeds to the spot of the selected drive, where both will place (not drop) their balls and hit their second shots. The best of the second shots is then chosen, and so on…
- This procedure continues until the ball is in the hole. There is a max score of triple bogey for each 2 man team for each hole. Thus, on a Par 4, after the team completes both 6th shots if the ball is not in the hole, they pickup and move on (Par 3 = Max 6, Par 4 = Max 7, Par 5 = Max 8). Please do not take extra shots, this will help the flow for all.
- At the end of each hole, the score for the group is recorded on the card. The winning team gets 1 point for the hole, 0 points for losing team, .5 points for tie. No carry-overs. Please report your total score and we will calculate the overall team score. No cumulative scoring! Individual Team win is a 1, tie is a .5 overall. BLUE maintains cup with a tie.
- OTHER RULES
- Place ball within one club length of the original ball spot, no closer to the hole. On the putting green place the balls within 3 inches of the original ball spot, no closer to the hole.
- In placing the ball, you may not change the condition of the shot. If the ball is in a hazard or rough, team must play their shot from the hazard or rough.
- On the first tee box, flip a tee to see which team goes first. Thereafter, the team winning the prior hole maintains the box.
- No mulligans, no gimmes. Resolve all disputes within your group. Maintain pace of play!
- LONG DRIVE COMPETITION (Hole TBD); CLOSEST TO PIN (Hole TBD)
- There will be prizes for the two winners of the contests.
- Drive must end up on fairway or no good. Move the distance marker and insert name if you outdrive the current leader. Place the marker at the spot of your ball.
- Closet to pin is measured by placing end of tape measure on the closest edge of cup and measuring to front edge of ball. List your name and distance on the distance marker and keep the marker in its initial place. Measure to .5”.
